Some of the reviews complain about flaws that require several exchanges made me apprehensive about buying this TV, but I'm so glad I got it. The full glass is elegant and the chrome stand is attractive too, although the ring shape does not really match the screen. But the picture blows me away! Screen uniformity is excellent and the black level is nearly indinguishable from the frame. I am so relieved that there are no dead pixels or permanent lines like some reviewers complained about. I have not used any of the advanced functions since I use it with a cable box. I am super happy with this TV.(hide)

Great picture, terrible software

Pros: amaizing picture; great integration with sony home theater
Cons: doesn't support USB keyboard; USB mouse jumps and lags; Remote mouse also jumps and lags; web-browser page size limit

This is the best picture. Very, very happy with the TV. I bought Sony home theater (BDV-N790W), very easy integration. Just plugged the HDTM cable and it work perfectly, it seems the TV controls the home theater. Then programmed my Fios remote to work with the TV, and suddenly i'm working with single remote all three devices. Very happy.
However, the device has downsides. No support for USB keyboard ... none at all. The support told me to use Sony remote for tablet or phone. works very good, but not substitute for real keyboard. The mouse cursor is lagging a lot, almost useless.
No support for USB camera either, need to buy Sony camera for that.
Also, I hit a page size limit on the browser trying to see my picture on picasa. Just said: "Page to big. Go back and try another page"....
Also, on the positive site, great integration with Windows Media Player. I set up a server, and it works flawlessly.(hide)

The picture tube in our 20+ year old 38” RCA Home Theater television burned out recently. After considerable amount of research on LCD, LED and plasma screens, I selected the Sony XBR-65HX950. The new 65” size for the Bravia was one of the main reasons. The video and audio qualities are superb. The colors are so clean and the clarity of scenes and faces make every program and movie so much more interesting to watch. The holiday musical programs were especially vibrant. I liked that the screen was already mounted to the table-top stand and how sturdy it is. The initial setup was easy to execute and the HD installation by the cable provider took less than 30 minutes. The price for the television was a consideration being it was double other choices that I had in mind. I am happy that I invested in a premium television with many high-tech features. A Sony Blu-ray 3D player just arrived and the grandkids will certainly enjoy their visits.(hide)

CES Adds DISH’s Hopper with Sling as “Best of Show” Joining the  Razer Edge as Co-Winners of Top Prize of 2013 “Best of CES” Awards

CES Will Launch RFP to Secure New Partner for “Best of CES” Awards Program

Arlington, VA – 01/31/2013 – Today the International CES® announced that DISH’s Hopper™ with Sling® Whole-Home HD DVR is joining the Razer Edge gaming tablet as co-winners of “Best of Show” under the “Best of CES” awards program for the 2013 International CES.  The Best of CES awards program is produced by CNET under contract with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) ®, the producer of the International CES.  CNET editors originally selected the Hopper with Sling as Best of Show before CNET’s corporate parent, CBS Corp. forced them to remove the Hopper from consideration due to ongoing litigation between CBS Corp. and DISH over specific features of the Hopper.  After the Hopper was removed from consideration and a revote by the editors, CNET awarded The Razer Edge as Best of Show.   “The CNET editorial team identified the Hopper Sling as the most innovative product of the show, and we couldn’t agree more,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, events and conferences for CEA.  “The Hopper with Sling and the Razer Edge both represent the best of the exciting, innovative technology introduced at the 2013 CES.  We are pleased to recognize both products as Best of Show.”   CBS Corp., along with other broadcasters, is in litigation with DISH over the Hopper’s capability to allow the recording and playback of programming 24-hours later without commercials.  CBS’ decision to force CNET to remove the product from consideration for Best of Show and change its product review policy created a media firestorm.  CNET will no longer review products manufactured by companies with which CBS Corp. is in active litigation with respect to the legality of the specific product.  Last week, CEA joined several leading tech groups in filing an amicus brief in support of DISH Networks in the suit over the Hopper.
